Promising Young Woman

conflicted because i absolutely loved watching it and how incredible every technical aspect is, but the film doesn't sit right with me

i'll preface this with that i'm a stupid dumb idiot man and don't know anything but i feel as though the last twenty minutes morph into a soapy cvs paperback and betray its ethos (the ending is framed as genuine and conclusive even though...the film really expects us to trust the powers that be to do the right thing? or perhaps that's the point?) puzzling and conflicting.

still, it's dense and undeniably engaging and i'm glad to see carey mulligan in things beyond her seminal performance as sally sparrow in series 3 episode 10 of doctor who. and bo burnham is brilliant casting.

and that cover? yes, that one. chef's kiss.
