Wes Anderson is able to take the absurd and make it completely believable. The Royal Tenenbaums exemplifies this perfectly. The acting is deadpan, the set design is meticulous, the costuming is lavish, and the script is silly (in the best way possible). You are constantly reminded that you are watching a movie.
