me: fuck representation
also me: crying bc there’s a trans woman on my tv in her own house wearing her own clothes
rly rly rly good. the aesthetic of this special is so leveled up, from the big noe title cards to the soundtrack to the cinematography. unlike other drag shows i’m sure you’ve never heard of (which is to say exactly like drag IRL) on dragula drag and queerness go hand-in-hand without any question or equivocation. the winner put together three stunning looks that all felt authored by the same queen - her voice totally shined thru and i think from the first challenge it was obvious who was gonna win hehe.
also the queens getting to tell their stories felt v authentic and emotional. bit different from ru extracting trauma stories for his podcast ☺️
the ending sequence homages halloween 3 & is set to an orville peck song ... v strong. i’m a faggot
