I love how nearly all great westerns feel like they could easily be the last western. Almost the entire genre is about the END of the era, which is in itself, such a wonderfully painful thing. I’m not saying anything new here, I know. But this one in particular, really feels like that kind of pain, as you weigh out what is worthy of legend and whether it is just a lie.
I’d always heard great things about The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and it holds up to every one.
