VIEWED THE 251 MIN CUT
(CO-FUNDED BY GUCCI (?!))
Oh, to see the world through the Sergio Leone’s eyes. This is probably the best way to usher in a new year, as the possibilities in this film are so vast, and NYC has never had more space and felt wider. That being said, it’s still a film of retrospect and caution. It has this great balance of wishful nostalgia and understanding of cause and effect. They sort of remind me of how this new year felt. Like this bubbling excitement to exit this awful year, yet acknowledging that not everything can fix itself. I enter this year with the same caution and excitement that I felt brewing during this entire four-hour runtime.
