Chris Haydon’s review published on Letterboxd:
The real star of Christopher Nolan's epic is not the spectacular Heath Ledger, nor the broodingly-fueled score from Hans Zimmer. Heck, it isn't even Nolan's sublime contributions either.
The REAL star of The Dark Knight is the unquestionably exquisite cinematography from Wally Pfister. He builds a frame with such density, atmosphere and sense of space that you simply get lost within the shiny windows and moon-soaked streets of Gotham.
To call this a superhero film is wholly misjudged. This is a sprawling, uncompromising and poignant crime drama about wealth, social order and insanity.
