When a young Irish girl becomes pregnant from a one night fling in 1952 she is forced to move to the local abbey under the care of the nuns there. At three years old her son is ripped away from her and adopted to an American family. What begins is a 50 year journey of Philomena trying to find her son Anthony. Due to her guilt for getting pregnant at such a young age with a stranger and the difficulty of dealing with the nuns it's been nothing but a struggle her entire life. This is until she meets a well known journalist named Martin. Together, the two might just have a chance of finding what happened to her son. This true story is excellent from start to finish and should not be missed by any of you, period.
