Heath Rhoads’s review published on Letterboxd:
My retrospective of the Pirates films continues with the 2006 sequel Dead Man's Chest. And this one is decent. It's a little bloated at nearly 2 1/2 hours but I guess they figured that the first one was nearly the same length so people obviously had a tolerance for these things. Davey Jones and his crew as the antagonists is actually pretty fun (and their amalgamation of various sea creatures) plus you gotta have the Kraken in there! There are a couple of completely ridiculous action set pieces but that seems to be the norm with these films. And of course things have to end on a cliffhanger since the third one was arriving less than a year later. Overall, there was enough to keep this on the positive side.
