Snake Plissken... I've heard of you. I heard you were dead!
I love John Carpenter's artistry so much. He is one of my favorite directors. But this was kind of eh. It was underwhelming and I found it boring until the last 30 minutes. Which seems wild because the synopsis sounds so fun and the cast is amazing. But I wanted something grander, more extreme, and over-the-top, like I've seen Carpenter do before. This felt more tame, which is so weird based on the subject matter.
Everything that makes a John Carpenter film, technicality wise, was there. His films always look great, but I needed more than that. But Kurt Russell and Isaac Hayes were super cool in this. They just oozed coolness.
