John’s review published on Letterboxd:
This movie suffered the misfortune of being released one week after Spielberg's one-two punch of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Poltergeist, consequently striking out with critics and at the box office. But as cinephiles know, time often corrects injustices and today John Carpenter's horror film is considered to be a classic. While Carpenter's direction is assured, 22 year old makeup and effects designer Rob Bottin, the creator of the grotesque images that we remember most, deserves credit in equal measure.
