Not a monster movie it's a depressing family drama that has a monster in it. The real monster is an young mother that can't stomach parenthood. I always applaud the use of practical creature effects but the design was a little generic.
One of the funnest horror movie experiences I've ever had at cinemas this year. Retains the atmosphere of the original novel despite changes to certain key elements. The young cast is brilliant in every way and Skarsgard nails menacing Pennywise in every way. My only gripe was the ending could have been a little better but it doesn't detract from the overall great quality of the film.
