Kubo is about family and the power of stories. The movie intertwines these themes just perfectly. The setting in feudal Japan and the fantastic elements make it whole. I especially loved the finale and the role of Kubo‘s magical shamisen in it. In addition to that, Laika seems to have perfected the art of combining stop-motion and 3D animation. Even in contrast to their amazing earlier works like Coraline or ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings looks just stunning.
