Guillermo Del Toro is a master at worldbuilding and this might be one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen. The way the two subplots are woven together so perfectly blew me away.
Ofelia’s need for escape is felt so desperately and I love that the fantasy world she escapes to is as dark as it is wonderful.
This is a really special movie. You can feel the magic in every frame, whether it’s grounded in reality or not. Del Toro weaves his fantasy into the real world with such ease that it almost makes me jealous. He is such a creative visionary and I am deeply impressed.
This is easily the best creature design I’ve ever seen in a movie. Pale Man is going to haunt my dreams.
