there’s a lot that I really liked about this and I found it to be a very powerful story. the sound design in particular made for really impressive filmmaking. But I do think it’s message gets a little complicated in the third act. I really liked when it was heading in the direction of him healing and finding support and comfort within the deaf community. But then the movie veers in a way that felt weird to me personally like as though it was vilifying his choice to get implants almost. It lessened the impact of the ending for me. But overall outside of those issues I really enjoyed this. It’s important to get more stories out there featuring deaf or hard of hearing characters and this was a really good watch. Riz Ahmed absolutely killed this role!!
