I don’t really have much to say about this actual concert documentary other than it was really fun and I liked it! So instead I’m going to talk about my most prominent memory that I associate with the talking heads - my mother.
I remember very strongly the night she showed me the music video to once in a lifetime. I had downloaded limewire on the family computer, immediately condemning it to an insane number of viruses - like just completely fucked it up. All because I wanted to download Hilary Duff’s Christmas album for free.
But anyway, for the short time that we used it to steal music, I started getting more and more into older music. I didn’t know where to start other than what my mom had played in the car - so Prince, the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, etc. I went to her and asked for some recommendations.
And she said, okay I need to show you the best music video of all time. And she pulled up Once in a Lifetime by the Talking Heads and we laughed for a solid hour watching it on repeat and singing along. It was one of the first bonding experiences we shared over music and I still treasure it today. Great song, great music video. Loved this doc, it really reminded me of fun times.
