Fucking hell this movie rules
Tonally all over the place, and a bit of a mess (It is Sono after all) but 1000X more interesting, visually creative and inventive than 97% of the action movies that have come out in 2021. Nic is doing what he always does (which is be amazing), Bill Moseley is having a blast, and the almighty TAK gets to show off in a western film. Also super cool to see Nick Cassavetes basically playing his Face/Off character. I don't know how much I actually like it, but I know I kinda love it.
Assembling a cast of some of the most kickass action women does not give you a free pass to waste most of them and, you know, not make a good movie. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie with this much action be this flat and lifeless and no amount of ironic needle drops and neon lighting can cover up that this thing is just inert.
1993-2000 (basically Hard Target to M:I2) was such a special time for movies to me personally. Woo, Tsui, Lam, Wong all just being turned loose on Hollywood and making some of the most creative, insane mainstream Hollywood movies ever. God I miss it
