Higgins’s review published on Letterboxd:
I love forbidden love stories and what’s more forbidden then two teenagers with cystic fibrosis who fall in love but can’t come within 6 feet of each other or they’ll die. Take that Romeo and Juliet.
There are a bunch of predictable teenage romance drama tropes including musical montages and the like, however, at the center of the movie beats a genuine and lovely heart. To be true, this film isn’t shy about cashing in on the tearjerker factor but again if you choose not to be jaded about the genre, this film is also about the bravery of two young people who not only want to live but also want to love. At the end of the day, I like everyone in this movie and root for them regardless of any cliches. Doesn’t that make for a good movie? Regardless of the fact that the fourth act takes liberties and they are extraordinarily manipulative, I still like these people. I’m a softy though.
