Cobain: Montage of Heck

Cobain: Montage of Heck ★★★★

Kurt Cobain was infectiously honest and charismatic that even if you weren't a fan of NIRVANA, it is impossible to not care and feel for the man. Him turning into a heroin addict makes you worry about the man instead of discarding him as another junkie rocker. The documentary doesn't try to glorify the man and criticize those who couldn't stand his lifestyle but instead it gives us a first hand experience to learn the psyche of the man, with old video footage, photographs, animated sequences of particular events of his life and a few dozen scribbles from Kurt's personal diaries. He was a man with a sensitive head (and heart) who perhaps needed more compassion and acceptance than what he was provided.

Unlike the other critically acclaimed documentary of 2015, AMY, I was totally interested in learning what Kurt Cobain was like. Cobain: Montage of Heck was heartbreaking, to say the least.
