    Summer Hours

Found this on a list of best films of the twenty first century and so went in with pretty high expectations and came away very disappointed. It's ponderous and meandering and unstructured but it's also very concerned with the 'plight' of some well off, white middle aged people whose biggest problem is what to do with their precious antiques or valuable property. I get there's a message here about memory and sentiment and nostalgia but it shouldn't take two hours of smoking, drinking, and self obsessed convetsation to nail that message.

Really enjoyed this - it could have been too quirky/indie or just downright weird, but instead it was very touching and beautifully made with some incredible performances that manage to remain understated despite the subject matter (disability! sex!).
