i've been complaining for literal years that nothing scares me anymore. i obsessively watched horror movies when i was in fifth and sixth grade, and since then i have not one single time been scared shitless by a horror flick. and then, at the prime age of twenty one, i watched black christmas for the first time and i would like to thank not only god but also jesus and most importantly bob clark for scaring me to literal fucking…

We Are the Best! 2013
there is no movie that captures what it feels like to be a 13 year old girl who believes she owns the world more than this.

Matthias & Maxime 2019
I’m rating this 3/5, so it’s obviously not a shit movie, but considering how deeply in love i am with Xavier Dolan’s other films it feels like shit. And yes, i like The Death and Life of John F. Donovan way more than this one.
This is a film with the best fanfic trope of all time, but i still wasn’t pulled into it. If this was a fanfic the story would be exclusively focused on the relationship in question, and…

Marriage Story 2019
I've been trying to write a review for this since the first time i saw it. Now i've seen it twice and i still feel very silly trying to write anything about this movie when it says everything it wants to say so perfectly on its own. Everything i try to say about it just sounds silly in comparison. How do i put the feeling of this movie into words? I'm just gonna go through my notes one by one…

A Brother's Love 2019
Monia Chokri has an incredibly distinct style and it's right up my quirky-music-loving-fast-paced alley. Loved the quick rhythmic editing, the slow zooms and the vibrant colours. This film truly has the style of like, a quirky teen movie, but it's about depressed adults, and i love it so much? I'm also so weak for upbeat, cute music set to fast paced editing, it's truly my biggest weakness and this film is full of that (my notes are full of me…

The Souvenir 2019
all notes i took during this were like "really nice coat, she's super hot, good outfit"

Honey Boy 2019
"She holds my hand, you slap me in the face"
Certain lines from this film have stayed in my mind since i saw it this morning. Truly fantastic absolutely fucking heartbreaking dialogue, delivered perfectly by Noah Jupe, he really makes this film. The main story about young Otis is incredibly strong, so everytime we jump ahead to the story about adult Otis i just kinda wanna go back to it. Otherwise, perfect.
