Well this was a lot more charming and nice than I expected. Tom Hanks was as dapper as ever, and this being the first time I’d seen Meg Ryan in a movie, I came to understand quickly why she was so popular as an actor in the 90s. She is inimitably charming and beatiful. I plan to seek out more of her movies ASAP.

Slow and boring, just the way I like it. Hint: Think of the movie as a poem while watching. Look for rhymes.

The story and script felt very contrived and a few deux ex machina moments took away from my enjoyment of the film. It's ultimately a fun enough movie — and I really enjoyed Eddie Redmayne's awkward portrayal of his character — but dissatisfying overall.

The story is far from unique (for all I know, this movie is the start of this trope), but it is fantastically executed. The best telling of this type of story by far.
