Nolan's detractors tend to label his directing style as 'cold' and 'sterile.' Frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way. With "Inception," Nolan proved that the Hollywood summer blockbuster was in dire need of his more cerebral approach. Sure, the script is weighed down by an almost constant stream of exposition, but there's no denying that "Inception" provides plenty of imagery to dazzle the viewer's eyes at the same time the story ties their brain in knots.
