By Davis's count, since he started meeting and befriending members of the Klan and other hate groups in 1990, he's collected about two dozen robes and hoods (and other paraphernalia) of those who have chosen to leave the organization after getting to know him. That averages out to roughly one conversion a year, which is why it's easy to share the skepticism of the Black Lives Matter activists he talks to.

Incidentally, I don't know why PBS's Independent Lens wasn't appointment television for me before, but it sure is now.
