Thomas Callahan’s review published on Letterboxd:
Very good, very minimalist, very glad I was able to see it. From what I understand, this film is not easy to get a hold of and I just happened to get the chance to see a screening of it on my college campus. Let me tell you, I highly encourage seeing this film.
Wound in irony and cultural satire, Cry Woman is a highly watchable, realist look at lower class China. Even though I thought the ending was predictable, it did not take away from the scene thanks to the fantastic performance.
