Part of Schlocktober 2017
Going into Gerald's Game completely oblivious is possibly the best frame of mind to be in when it comes to this Stephen King adaptation. I haven't read the book, briefly glimpsed a trailer a while ago but really, I had no idea what to expect other than people recommending it.
For starters, this is a very solid horror/thriller overall. It's intense, dark, scary at times, and if it wasn't for that ending, it could have been up there as one of the years better films. That ending just feels like a completely different movie. Carla Gugino freakin owns throughout in a demanding and fantastic performance. She fully commits and is perhaps her best performance to date. Bruce Greenwood lends some great support too.
Definitely check out this Netflix film if you're looking for something different to watch this month of October.
