    Leprechaun 2

Leprechaun 2 is one of those rare cases where a horror sequel is actually better than the original. It has a bigger budget, stronger direction and cinematography, and a heightened willingness to embrace the absurdity of the series' concept. It more firmly establishes the lore that makes Warwick Davis' titular leprechaun so fun, and his performance is just as gleefully mean-spirited and entertaining here as it was the first time around. I'm not saying Leprechaun 2 is high art... but it is a pretty stellar little popcorn horror!

  • Leprechaun

By most conventional metrics, Leprechaun isn't a good movie. The script is ridiculous, the acting (outside of Warwick Davis, of course!) is ho-hum, and the film itself is ugly as sin - but the whole is somehow greater than the sum of its parts? It's just so freakin' fun. It's hokey, mind-numbing fun, I'll concede, but it's also an endlessly entertaining pot of B-movie gold and I'll defend it 'til my dying day.

Absolutely chilling. The cast is great and the tension just builds and builds until the film reaches a nightmarish climax that features some of the most frightening creature effects you'll ever see. It's a keeper.

    Groundhog Day

I've been meaning to watch this for years and I'm so so so glad I finally did! Groundhog Day is a little over the top in places but it's also genuinely heart-warming; it's the kind of film that makes you wanna be a better person. In that regard it reminds me a lot of Scrooged, which is both my favorite Bill Murray movie and my favorite Christmas movie. The world needs more inspirational Bill Murray holiday comedies...

Definitely gonna make this one a yearly tradition from now on!
