A cracking return to the horror genre by Sam Raimi after spending the last decade making big-budget Spider-Man movies, this film makes a marvellous companion piece to Evil Dead II. The ultimate modern monster movie mash-up, Freddy vs. Jason is tremendous fun as long as you separate it from it's parent franchises and take it on its own merit. There's also a fantastic commentary with Robert Englund, who obviously relished playing Freddy for what turned out to be his final time.
