Danielle’s review published on Letterboxd:
This had so much potential to be filmed in a notable way. But M. Night isn’t very capable of steady, patient filmmaking.
I’ve been thinking about this concept a lot. I wish he made this film over the course of ~15 years, using the same actors and a bit of prosthetic to enhance age - like Boyhood. I wish that the film was in real time - i.e., the runtime is 1h48m so they would only be on that beach for 1h48m, no time jumps. This also should’ve ended at the 1h30m mark, too much unnecessary epilogue.
This movie was so underwhelming and predictable. There’s not much more to say.
