Copaganda. One cop says to another: "Come on, man, you know I'll lie for you anytime. I will cover up dead bodies for you." And it's part of some cute joke, rather than being meant as disturbing!
Strange feelings revisiting this after so long. In fact, I appreciated it more than my memory of it from 15 years ago, though wow it's really such a time capsule of that specific era, musically, cinematographically, editing-wise, etc. But the franticness with which it was assembled is apparent and that urgency bleeds through the film, especially the first half.
