Feel the heat, keep the feeling burning, let the sensation explode.
Smoke billows sensually from cigarettes, steam rises from fresh noodles, hot mustard opens the sinuses, and despite the cold restraint, something is blooming between cuckold Mr. Chow (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai) and his neighbor Mrs. Chan (Maggie Cheung). It's not an explosion, though. Their growing relationship is purely platonic, and while it slowly simmers, it ultimately fizzles - just like a stubbed-out cigarette, noodles left out overnight, and Heinz yellow mustard. It's a beautiful sight to behold, but it gets a little choppy near the end.
