The Handmaiden

The Handmaiden ★★★★½

I'm surprised by how good this is.

The sets, the costumes, the performances, the soundtrack! All perfect!

The film could get very boring (for me, it was specifically in part 2) but it told the story it needed to spectacularly. I was blown away by the music and honestly, I had no idea this was a lesbian film until I watched it. I actually didn't know anything about it except that it was a Korean film by Park Chan-wook set in the 1930s. And I ended up staring in awe of Park's mastery of his craft. The writing shook me to my core.

An intelligently stunning film!
