Film #22 of the "Scavenger Hunt 15" challenge
Task # 5: A film directed by Hayao Miyazaki
This is a review of the subtitled version in Japanese.
I got a lesson. Don't watch Studio Ghibli when you're tired and you have to read subtitles. It took a long time to watch it as I missed out on some subtitles while eyes either closed or I got distracted. I'm not really interested in the English version as the Japanese performances entertain me much more, although I'm planning to watch the new English dub of Only Yesterday soon. But despite all of the difficulty this morning, I did enjoy what I focused on. The opening sequence is very thrilling and the design is very good, despite only being the second official Ghibli film. It did confuse me at times when Granny chased the girl but then became friends with her, as they seemed to switch antagonists halfway through the film. But it's a harmless film which still proves very adventurous after all these years.
