C'mon C'mon

C'mon C'mon ★★★★

”…he might be my best friend.”

A beautiful, monochromatic look at learning how to communicate with children.

Joaquin Phoenix, in a performance of being rather than acting, learns to decipher the imagination, metaphors, and egocentrism of his nephew, and in the process builds a friendship they both need.

2021 produced some amazing black and white movies with Passing and Macbeth, but C’mon C’mon might be the most stunning. Certain scenes felt like suburban, domesticated versions of Ansel Adams photographs.

Beautiful stuff.
