LONDON FILM FESTIVAL: FILM #3
I may be completely biased but I feel like Damien has made another masterpiece. A devastatingly beautiful tribute to classic musicals, La La Land feels incredibly nostalgic but still wholly unique. There are several astounding set pieces and musical numbers, and I'm still wondering how the hell they filmed it.
Ryan Gosling came out for the Q&A after the screening and he talked about how they were running out of light in the day but Damien was filming a water truck for some reason, and he was surprised at how the director managed to make a simple water truck look so beautiful. I felt like that about every shot in the movie. It actually pains me that I won't be able to see this again for another 3 months - I want to watch this every day for at least 3 months.
