The Farewell

The Farewell ★★★★½

i'm not so great at connecting to films revolving around family but this hit the nail on the head. when my grandma died when i was a lot younger, i wasn't necessarily sad but i was still processing what was going on to the best of my ability. it wasn't a happy vibe but at the same time i didn't find it very sad either. but the strange thing was that it really wasn't anything to me. it was a grey feeling. it was weird. coming to terms with loss before it even happens is a tricky and weird thing to do.

anyway this paragraph doesn't really make sense, but basically what i'm trying to say is that the farewell does an excellent job at portraying emotions that are complicated and not necessarily very visual. i loved it.
