Joe G’s review published on Letterboxd:
Let me tell you something that I already knew and you may too: Yaphet Kotto is bad. Like as in cool, Jack. What a continually great screen presence and I look forward to filling in more of his 70’s filmog like Cohen’s Bone and also Across 110th / Truck Turner.
After this my 6th Schrader I’m still working on getting my head around his work (besides First Reformed which was tops). Mishima and Auto Focus are yet on the watchlist though and I suspect it’s more of a spotty-but-great / chance-taking output type’a thing so we’ll see. I did like the old Detroit auto industry backdrop and progression of story in this, and the filmmaking technique is all there too. Let’s call it a push + cautious Schrader optimism (w options to revisit) going forward.
