Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid ★★★★½

I'll watch Once Upon a Time in the West sometime soon, but at least until then, this is my new favorite Western.

There's not much I can say in terms of summary that everyone doesn't already know, but bank robbery didn't look as cool as this even in Dog Day Afternoon. The story and especially the relationship between Newman and Redford couldn't be more perfect. Butch Cassidy achieves, for me anyway, the perfect proportions of humor and excitement to make a great movie. And, of course, as they say, "that ending"....

Minor fault with the sepia scenes; while they may give an old-fashioned look, they certainly don't work well for me. I'm also once again spoiled by The Graduate (and Donnie Darko)—Ross's performance here was so underwhelming by comparison that it made me feel a little sad.
