The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 1964
Technically, an astonishing marvel. The use of color, obviously, but the incredibly fluid, swiftness of camera movement really had me tied in. Enjoyed it as a musical, the jazz underscore was brilliant, but I don’t think this story is grand enough to be an entire “sung-thru” tale… caused a few either lingering, dull, or awkward moments. Even the performances are great, BUT….

No doubt, this film is for kids! This was evident merely by the fastest pace of a flick I’d ever seen in my entire life. This film moves so fast, with so many unanswered plot questions, it almost gave me a headache. Do the creators of this really think kids have that short of an attention span? Oh well....
