    I think I'm just a sucker for the "requel". Here's the formula, you take the same basic premise and plot from your first, best/most successful film, you add in new characters that will fulfill the same roles, then add in a dash of the old characters too in sort of mentor roles, print money.

    It worked for Star Wars, Jurassic Park/World, Rocky/Creed, Halloween and Ghostbusters (less so for Terminator). The only thing is Scream is a little different, of course…

    OK this is the Kubrick I've been looking for. This is definitely where he gets his legs underneath him. A slick noir that uses a non linear storytelling technique to keep threads of the story going before cutting back to prior actions of other characters.

    Absolute insanity. Takashi Miike blends together musicals, claymation, comedy and horror elements into his tale of a family making their struggling bed and breakfast work amidst a worrying trend of guests.

    At times you wonder if Miike had 4 or 5 different film ideas that he was messing around with and threw them all into one, which genuinely could be how we ended up here. Either way it kinda works. Mileage on this will definitely vary.
