After watching Hunt for the Wilderpeople, this is the second Film I watched by Taika Waititi. While I liked Hunt for the Wilderpeople better, this one is more serious. I love how Waititi takes a serious theme and shows it as normal. "Boy" doesn't know another life, and there are joyful and sad moments. Most Independent Movies that focus on a childhood gone wrong show a barrage of sad moments. Not so Boy: There are highs and lows. Even if Waititis colorful style has some fantasy moments, this somehow feels realistic.
