Mattias Indy Pettersson’s review published on Letterboxd :
Memories of guilt and shame create nightmares as four British longtime friends embark on a hiking trip in the Swedish mountains. Mistrust and insecurity leads to paranoia and panic. Pagan horror ensues.
”The Ritual” might not present something entirely new, but it’s pretty well done and that makes a huge difference. It kind of loses its integrity in the final act, but I can look past that. It’s still a gem in an ocean of crap movies.
I had a good time watching this, being reminded of how superb ”Deliverance” is and remembering the first time I watched ”The Blair Witch Project”. Also, British horror always outdo American horror. Good acting too, especially by Sam Troughton.
