I'm not sure what prompted me to want to rewatch this. It's still bad, but having just watched the The Ward I did me appereciate what this film gets right.

Mainly that it's really short. Director Paul WS Anderson's seems to know that the story & characters are dogshit (except maybe Ewen Bremner & kudos to this film for having a black lead to a major studio sci-fi/ horror film in 2004. That's not nothing), but his gambit seems to be: Keep…

Weirdly I couldn't find it anywhere to stream so I had to rent it on Google Play & watch it on my phone ha. Upside was I could watch it SD, have it still look good & I saved a dollar.

    If you want to ape…

Since returning to the movies, I've been chasing a feeling. I expected my return to the cinema to "feel" magic. I keep joking that whatever I saw first would instantly be a five-star "masterpiece," simply by virtue of watching a film on the big screen again... Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Now, that's not to say that F9, The Suicide Squad, Titane, Candyman & Shang-Chi were not without their charms (& Titane came closer than the others, but it's also a…
