Really liked the first half with its creepy atmosphere and then it switches gears and went a bit downhill for me. I was actually more interested in the Gordy the chimpanzee subplot than the main plot. The cast was great, especially Daniel Kaluuya who makes everything he's in better. Still a good entertaining film that for me was better than Us, but not as good as Get Out.

David Cronenberg returns to his roots by exploring the themes of his previous works of body horror, but from a different and more complex perspective. This took me back to the days of some of his earlier masterpieces: Videodrome, Crash, and eXistenZ. Might be Cronenberg’s best work of the past 20 years.

Another miss from Guillermo Del Toro. Along with Three Billboards this is one of the most overrated films of the year. Pan's Labyrinth & Crimson Peak were much better than this wannabe 1960's Jean-Pierre Jeunet meets Tim Burton knock off. Feels like it was made by a teenager obsessed with sex and violence that's trapped in the body of a middle-aged man who still believes in fairy tales.

Tired of being exploited & underpaid, two illegal Mexican laborers decide to take on a different kind of job. The job involves being paid a bunch of cash to do something with a sawed off shotgun. Good film done in a style similar to Bruno Dumont & Michael Haneke. Mexican director Amat Escalante who recently won best director at Cannes for his latest film Heli has become a force to be reckoned with.
