Umberto D. ★★★★

Just look at that poster...how can you not love this film!?!?

Seriously though, this film is great. Its notions of pride and desperation is incredibly compelling - and in parts rather heartbreaking - in how it emulates the struggle of post-war Italy. The film also succeeds because it doesn't rely on sentimentality. It simply presents relationships as they are, and the film allows you to be consumed by its authenticity.
