I just finished cleaning two beautiful red cinema seats from then- East Germany that now found their way into my living room. What better way to inaugurate them than watching this technicolor dream from the Golden era of Hollywood? I also took the opportunity to add this gorgeous drawn German poster to TMDb. I'd like to have that on my wall but unfortunately it goes for way too much money.

The opening sequence might be one of my favorites ever.…

    A. Ferrara #8 --- One of the best movies about being drunk and reckless. Spring Breakers for grown-ups if you will. The breakdown is shot mostly hand-held which adds a certain dynamic and feel of "being there". Every once in a while an incredibly beautiful shot appears. It just works for whatever reason. Strangely poetic.

Thankfully I got exactly what I hoped for: a totally absurd story with nasty gore and a lot of fun to be had. I had the pleasure to watch it on its world premiere with the Maestro himself introducing it. Some cast members (including Asia and the…

There's nothing like a riot in a fag bar and a night in the slammer to ensure showbiz' immortality.

It's kinda cool that I saw a Takashi Miike flick at the same theater where this had its UK premiere 40 years ago. What a party it must've been. Blonde Ambition is indeed ambitious. By tackling topics such as show business, the theater, and hunger for fame it captures the vibe of Hollywood pictures from past days. It's campy in nature, glamorous, follows an interesting yet familiar storyline, and is colorfully photographed by Roberta Findlay. A total gem.
