Chris W’s review published on Letterboxd:
I had a surprisingly shitload of fun with this comedy. Many 80s screwball comedies don’t age that well and appear mean-spirited and outdated sometimes. Not this one, which it owes to the very funny and charming main characters. Bill and Ted are just so happy-go-lucky and infect the viewer with their stupid but always positive behavior. The way they talk to each other and walk through their crazy adventure just brings a smile to my face.
There’s one single part that soured the movie a bit for me; just a single 3 second scene where they call each other fag after hugging. The whole movie is pretty much devoid of outdated 80s behavior that can make the modern viewer cringe – except this one. Kind of a shame!
Still, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure is an extremely fun and joyful ride of a movie that stands out from the typical crowd of screwball and stoner comedies through its carpe diem attitude.
