Irimiás and Petrina’s review published on Letterboxd:
If you don't think Paprika is the coolest fucking thing in the universe you are lost.
A character turns into Akira Kurosawa and explains the 180 degree rule. I mean c'mon!
Saw this film again tonight, this time on print.
Kon was so far ahead of his time it's frightening. Given the VAST leaps and bounds he made with each and everything thing he worked on, Paprika only makes his untimely death even more tragic, as it is evidence that as an artist he was capable of the literal impossible and whatever was next for him had the possibility of being even more endless, more impossible...
And that ending... Christ...
This is the greatest animated movie ever made. Hands down.
Also whoever said Kon was the first filmmaker to make films about modern life is 100% correct.
