• Licorice Pizza

    Licorice Pizza

I know I'll need extra watches of Licorice Pizza to fully love it, I know it. His films are either instant classics that only get better on re-watches - There Will Be Blood, Punch-Drunk Love - or ones that take a minute to really show how great they are - Phantom Thread. I felt like the film was way way too long, a good 20 minutes could've been taken off and it would've flower way better. If you're into the alternative-romance and alternative-comedy genre, you'll definitely want to see this one on theaters because not only is it laugh-out-loud hilarious, it's eye candy.

  • Blazing Saddles

    Blazing Saddles

This - along with Fast Times at Ridgemont High - are my dad’s favorite movies of all time and I can see why. Not only by knowing him but also Gen Xers seem to adore both of those, but especially this one.

The whole thing about it is “this couldn’t be made today” down to the fact my parents said I couldn’t watch it til I was 18, lucky for them I waited til I was 20. I almost want to…

  • Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
  • Casino

I know it’s a whole thing that all Martin Scorsese movies are the same but damn are they good. Seeping with visual eye candy, great acting, fast pace and some great writing to boot.

  • Some Kind of Heaven

    Some Kind of Heaven

Probably from the way it was shot, but I was getting massive First Reformed vibes.

Anyways, you don’t see many contemporary documentaries pushing the cinematic language. A lot of them went the true-crime-Lifetime-or-Netflix route of lazy slideshows. I’m always glad when an interesting subject matter gets the visual treatment it deserves.

  • Angst

I more appreciate Angst for the films that came after. Researching it, I learned that Gaspar Noé was heavily influenced by this film and I definitely see that. Man Bites Dog arguably does the merciless black comedy murders better. The House That Jack Built did the OCD, abhorrent killings.

One thing to heavily admire is the style of cinematography used which really made this film pop and make it memorable. It’s always a sign of interesting and forward-thinking camerawork when I’m searching how…

  • Titane

It’s happening once again, a 100 films in 100 days

Titane is everything a New French Extremity movie needed to be which makes it damn good

  • C'mon C'mon

    C'mon C'mon

Yeah I totally get the hype

  • Kate & Leopold

    Kate & Leopold

For those who don’t know, I work for a news stations and on weekends they have me in the master control department which is making sure the signal doesn’t get lost and such. This was the movie playing and lemme tell you, did not enjoy

  • Call Me by Your Name

    Call Me by Your Name

Still as beautiful as the first time I saw it.

  • True Stories

    True Stories

This is more Andy Warhol than any film Andy Warhol made

  • Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

I love going through Twin Peaks because it means I can show them FWWM and The Return
