Nice love story, not overstated, with a massive world of the ramifications of historical events as the backdrop.

This is basically what I was afraid CODA was going to be before I watched it. It can get pretty charming for a bit here and there, but most of it just feels like it's trying way too hard.
My A24 double feature for the 24th slipped my mind (guess I had other things to think about that day...), made up for it over the next couple days.
It's bigger and dumber than the first, which is absolutely two steps in the right direction in my book, if we keep progressing this direction these are gonna start getting really good in a few instalments!
As for what's still holding it back, why are we spending so much time with all these human characters? Pop culture references aren't egregious, but still overused. A lot of the action feels weirdly lifeless, at least in the first half. I'm split on…
