Didn’t really do much for me compared to MADELINES MADELINE, and that’s no part due to its banal narrative. It’s nice to see some formal risks waking up the monotony of biopic tropes like free form jazz, but it still feels pedestrian to me. Not really a big fan of Michael Stuhlbargs or Elizabeth Moss’ performance on this, either; what once brought powerhouse acting now just recycled, annoying bits from their old characters. That said, it definitely helps that things get weird enough to forget it’s issues.
